Perfume bottles: commercial aesthetics?
Idea
My interest in perfume bottles extended into the aesthetic value of it. From being a luxury item and each bottle one of its kind, perfume bottles have become commercial items and succumbed to the pressure of mass production, losing its exclusivity.
Objective
- To re-trace the history of perfume bottles - its growth and progression from the clay jars to fancy glass bottles
- To show it’s unpleasant commercial form today
- To revive interest in the culture of possessing perfume bottles
- To highlight that we should not get caught in the commercial web of their production
